The Castles

Around the Comano Spa, the medieval castles overlooked the valley and at present they come back to life with medieval music, living history re-enactments, events, customs, and traditions.

• Campo Castle: a monumental and perfectly preserved castle enclosed by walls and round towers and surrounded by secular forests. Nowadays it is a private property and visitors are welcome during special events;
• Spine Castle, partly rebuilt, was once a community refuge and it is now a private property;
• Rèstor Castle, has a history similar to the Spine Castle’s and it is now being restored;
• Mani Castel, whose poor ruins proudly testify its ancient past.
• Stenico Castle, which can be visited, is the most powerful and best preserved of the valley, dating back from the thirteenth century. The present caste stands in place of an earlier prehistoric fortress.
