Starting from autumn 2017 you will have the opportunity to follow the new 4 gastronomic walking tours. A real travel through the culinary tradition of the valley. Stone and wood architecture offers unique and unforgettables views. Among fascinating villages, you will find the living presence of nature and history all year around.
The four gastronomic tours are developed through the uplands of Bleggio, Banale and Lomaso. Each of these precious locations save a typical product: the Bleggio walnut, the Banale Ciuìga , both Slow Food protected, the Lomaso potatoes and Fiavè milk.
Discover our valley following the gastronomic tours, completed of gpx tracks, descriptions and point of interest to analyze:
- Il “Sentiero della Ciuiga”, the “Ciuiga” trail, winds its way through the Alto Banale area, where the locals have been making ciuiga, a cured sausage made with pork and radish, since the second half of ‘800. The sausage is endorsed by the Slow Food movement. The itinerary follows a trail through San Lorenzo in Banale, “one of the Most Beautiful Towns in Italy”, and Dorsino to discover old traditions and new ways of making the ciuiga.
- “Il Sentiero della noce”, the walnut trail, runs across the Bleggio area, where for centuries people have been growing walnut trees, the typical produce of the valley endorsed by the Slow Food movement. The route follows a trail through places where the walnut is at the heart of everything. Running through a picturesque scenery peppered with historic rural hamlets, it reveals tucked-away corners and lanes off the beaten path.
- “Il Sentiero della Patata”, the potato trail, runs through the farmland where this typical mountain produce grows. Along the route you can admire from above the Lomaso highland, the land of the potatoes, rich in history, tradition and rural charm.
- Il "Sentiero del Latte", the milk trail, starts from Fiavé, heads towards the small village of Favrio and returns to the starting point after having crossed the archaeological site with the remains of piles dating back to the Neolithic.
